Some notes before we begin!

  • I used a reverse gearing process. Instead of chasing Crit>Det, my first goal was to remove Spell Speed.
  • I value crit slightly higher than DET for SMN, but this is marginal. (Adjust to your preference!)
  • Any weapon may be used as a substitute for the BiS list.

that being said, for the SMN gear table, only column 1 will be a complete set. Column 2 contains filler and notable gear options. Column 3 mainly makes up of “In desperate need of accuracy” gear.

Set 1 is the basic “crit favored” BiS. This set loses 2 Determination from the possible 16 of buttons. Im quite sure the higher Crit makes up for it. SMN BiS has some quirks, you’ll want to see the SMN Gear Notes.

GET USED to finding accuracy in the most god forsaken places….

Bad luck with drops? Need filler gear? Check out the third table above, and the SMN Gear Notes.

2.2 Summoner Soldiery Tomes Buy Order

“Say no to SS”. If you’ve asked yourself “What do SMN’s purchase first with my tomes of Sol?”, read on!

  • Book of Spades *only if you’re neat UAT.
  • Evenstar Coat has sick stats & BiS.
  • Evenstar Tights: ^.
  • Evenstar Sash
  • Evenstar Armillae
  • Evenstar Ring of Casting
  • Evenstar Gloves of Casting (Use Saurian in the meantime)

After the above the rest is OPTIONAL.

  • Evenstar Bootees (Interchangeable)
  • Evenstar Hat (Interchangeable)
  • Evenstar Earrings (Has accuracy!!)
  • Evenstar Necklace

Overall nothing is really wasted with summoner!

2.2 SMN Gear Notes

Lots of flexibility with SMN BiS. First of all any end game weapon may be used, so that’s a load off your mind. Even the Turn 5 one! If you need AccuracyWave or Tidal Wave Grimoire are excellent back up books to have! (To a lesser extent: Omnitome)

Interchangeable Gear: Just like BLM, SMN has 3 pieces of “interchangeable” gear, with a still formidable end result. The following three gear are “Accuracy” pieces, of which you need 2/3. Ones in bold were selected for BiS.

  • High Allagan Mask of Casting
  • High Allagan Gloves of Casting
  • High Allagan Boots of Casting

Any two of these may be used for “BiS”. Then you fill the last slot with one of the three “DPS” Pieces. Ones in bold were selected for BiS.

  • Evenstar Hat
  • Evenstar Gloves of Casting
  • Evenstar Bootees

The problem with Some of the DPS Pieces is the presence of spell speed. However, keep in mind that you can use these to tide you over until you get the High Allagan drops.

Bad luck with Coil drops?

  • Head? Evenstar Mask (See Above) or Cashmere (See Below)
  • Boots? Evenstar Bootees (See Above)
  • Neck? RIBBON!!!!
  • Ears? Evenstar or TREMOR!
  • Ring? Heros or Vortex!!

2.2 SMN Crafted Gear Viability

Wow, crafted gear sure sucks this time around for SMN. Head and Gloves are the only viable ones (Even then, they are part of the interchangeable scheme mentioned above).

Cashmere Hat of Casting – Cost effective melding:
-Savage Aim IV, Savage Aim IV, Savage Might of your choice x2, Savage Aim II

Saurian Gloves of Casting – Cost effective melding:
-Heavens Eye IV, Heavens Eye IV, Savage Aim III, Heavens Eye II
You can also throw away hard earned gil by putting Quicktongue somewhere there.

(If you’re reading the next entry, It means you’ve truly become desperate for accuracy)

Saurian Belt of Casting – Cost Effective melding:
– Heavens Eye IV, Savage Ain IV, Heavens Eye III, Savage Aim III, Savage Aim II.

Any crafted gear can be a placeholder for MORE ACCURACY. It just depends how deep your pockets are, knowing you’re gonna throw it away soon. Again take note, none of these crafted i90’s are really good for SMN, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

  1. The 3.3 relic BiS may be good idea to be added and the Yafaemi body could be good replacement until your static clears AS8

    1. Has this site died or something? whats with the lack of updates? we are in stormblood guys come on..why am i seeing old BiS listings? im a summoner 60 trying to gear up for stormblood and i see an old 3.2 list, really guys?

      1. gearing up from 60 going into Stormblood is IRRELEVANT. Get shire tier gear from Idyllshire. This will be updated come the 4.0 raids

      1. Well since 3.0 SS effects the amount of damage dots due… so wouldn’t SS be best stat… then CRIT… then DET
i know you stated that its “not a wasted stat”.. and honestly i haven’t compared the DPS but id think since most of our damage is dots that SS would be BIS

  2. I was checking the gear here, and it looks like you get 534 accuracy, but according to some data I found on reddit, you need 535 accuracy to have 100% hit chance.
Is this the case, and if it is, have you simply reduced the 1 accuracy in favor of other stats, since only the summon is affected?

I’m a bit curious, just looking at the numbers here.

    1. 534 was the number we lived with for quite some time. I haven’t heard of 535, but if that ONE accuracy diff is true it only means one thing.

534 accuracy gives garuda 99.96% or so, which is pretty damn negligible.
