DoH Dawntrail Tier General Notes / Strategy
GC Submissions are, as usual, godly. These are vastly more powerful than the average levequest, and they don’t even use up an allowance. The bonus ones are especially juicy.
Custom Deliveries are also great, and even give you meaningful rewards. This of course only resets weekly, so use them wisely.
Levequests are your main source of EXP. Use them up before you consider doing anything else.
Collectables are always viable, and sometimes there are amazing ones which are on average “cheaper” than a levequest item. The EXP though is usually less than half of a levequest so this can hurt your wallet.
Grinding is OK, as long as you’re making stuff you can sell. “Ingots”, and other levequest items will always have demand! Get paid to level up! haha.
Food Buff / Manuals: 3% is 3%, and manuals are a welcome boost. These aren’t mandatory but by all means use them if you have ’em.
NO DAWNTRAIL BEAST TRIBE YET.
Wachumeqimeqi Quests? Kind of suck, EXP wise. While there’s a story, and that can be cool, the actual EXP PER ITEM is strangely BAD. It’s generally worse than a Collectable, even.

Item: | Rarefied Loboskin Grimoire | |
EXP (Max): | 2335689 | |
Ingredients | 2 | Silver Lobo Leather |
Ingredients | 1 | Ginseng Lumber |
Ingredients | 1 | Enchanted Manganese Ink |
Ginseng Angle Brush (Big Brush. Big Dreams) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 5.00 Leves (HQ submission) to reach the next tier, ALC L92. As Compared to Growth Formula Lambda (Fast-forwarding Flora) which needs 9.35 Leves (HQ submission). 5390860 XP vs. 2881320 XP (HQ submission).
A powerful six component leve right off the bat, alongside a budget option. Can’t get any better than this!
The ALC L91 Collectable is Rarefied Loboskin Grimoire, you need 11.53 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L92. Each one gives 2335689 EXP at max collectability.
Basic collectable (compared to other jobs), nothing to say here. Do these if saving levequests.
ALC 90-92, what to do this tier?
Well, you a few (but good) options. If you can do the Angle Brush, do it. It’s the best EXP. If you’re on a budget, do the Growth Formula. I would stay away from the collectable unless you’re really dried up on leves.

Crocodileskin Index (Binding Spells) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 5.02 Leves (HQ submission) to reach the next tier, ALC L94. As Compared to Grade 1 Gemsap of Intelligence (For Tired Minds) which needs 9.39 Leves (HQ submission). 6231280 XP vs. 3330500 XP (HQ submission).
Yet another pair of “six component” and “40 durability” levequests!
The ALC L93 Collectable is Rarefied Gemsap of Dexterity, you need 11.49 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L94. Each one gives 2720952 EXP at max collectability.
As these are made from “many base components”, this has the potential to be VERY CHEAP. Keep an eye out on the price – if it’s cheap just go for it if you need to save on levequests!
ALC 92-94, what to do this tier?
Same as the previous tier. Choose whichever 6 component leve you like, this tiers Index, or previous tiers brush. Too expensive for you? You have two budget options as well, with this tiers Gemsap being a little better than previous tiers Growth Formula.
Notably, the collectable may have a very low price point. Check it out. It may be a very cost efficient option. If you’re low on leves and this is cheap for you – GO FOR IT!

Dark Mahogany Round Brush (I Like Big Brush and I Cannot Lie) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 5.03 Leves (HQ submission) to reach the next tier, ALC L96. As Compared to Magnesia Whetstone (Cutting Edge of Culinary Quality) which needs 9.41 Leves (HQ submission). 7118800 XP vs. 3804860 XP (HQ submission).
Strangely, yet another 6 component and 40 durability pair… Not complaining.
The ALC L95 Collectable is Rarefied Br’aaxskin Codex, you need 11.46 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L96. Each one gives 3122973 EXP at max collectability.
Basic collectable (compared to other jobs), nothing to say here. Do these if saving levequests.
ALC 94-96, what to do this tier?
Well, not much I can say here ey? This tier is the third repeat of this nature of levequests. Same old same old, do this tiers Brush if you can (or other 6 component leves if you like them more). Failing that, if you’re on a tight budget choose from any of the three 40 durability ones.
The collectable in this tier is very unlikely to be cost-efficient compared to the L93 Gemsap.

note
Yet another six component levequest – and it’s obviously very powerful BUT… the other levequest is oddly unique…
Cunning Craftsman’s Tisane (All-night Crafting) uses “base materials”, but gives “ok” exp… It’s a great option if you’re looking for BANG FOR BUCK leves as it CAN be dirt cheap.
The ALC L97 Collectable is Rarefied Cunning Craftsman’s Tisane, you need 11.52 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L98. Each one gives 3583647 EXP at max collectability.
As these are made from “many base components”, this has the potential to be VERY CHEAP. Keep an eye out on the price – if it’s cheap just go for it if you need to save on levequests!
ALC 96-98, what to do this tier?
You can opt for the usual 6 component option, the Codex. But bear in mind my note above – the Tisane levequest is very unique. It only uses “base materials” but gives decent EXP. It has the potential to be a godly “cost efficient” levequest, if you need to save some cash.
This tiers collectable is another “potential option”. Check out the cost efficiency and go for it if it’s any good.

Warning: There’s a tiny bit of a roadbump ahead.
Alchemist Leveling 98 to 100
Before proceeding: If you plan on crafting L99 Recipes you need to do EITHER one of these two things:
Recommended: Craft a SINGLE non-ring Acacia DoH accessory, and Meld it with at least 11 CP. (ONE OF: Acacia Earrings, Acacia Necklace, or Acacia Bracelet, and any melds that total to +11 CP).
Other solution: Buy “Stone Soup” food buff from the Gold Saucer Tapkeep. It gives 17 CP. It only costs like 37 gil each. I don’t like this since you might forget the food buff.
If you only plan to craft L98 recipes, you don’t need to use the above,
the macros still work for L98 Recipes.
Rotation Update L98/99 Alchemist Recipes
Two new rotations here, L98/99 recipes which (if using on 99) needs the preparation above. There’s an HQ for 40 DUR as well, but it’s only 99% HQ, lol. Close enough right? But I doubt you’ll ever NEED it.

EXP (Max): | 4067919 | |
Ingredients | 3 | Sanctified Water |

Ingredients | 3 | Windsbalm Bay Leaf |
Book of Ra’Kaznar (Tome for Tradition) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 5.59 Leves (HQ submission) to reach the next tier, ALC L100. As Compared to Grade 1 Gemdraught of Mind (Remedy for Reason) which needs 9.06 Leves (HQ submission). 8366760 XP vs. 5160160 XP (HQ submission).
Same story as the previous tier. While the book is obviously superior as a 6 component leve, we have another strange “raw material only” leve, that can be a great cost cutting option.
The ALC L99 Collectable is Rarefied Gemdraught of Vitality, you need 11.50 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L100. Each one gives 4067919 EXP at max collectability.
As these are made from “many base components”, this has the potential to be VERY CHEAP. Keep an eye out on the price – if it’s cheap just go for it if you need to save on levequests!
ALC 98-100, what to do this tier?
Well, if you just want maximum EXP, go for the book or any of the good 6 component leves up to this point.
Saving money? You have tons of options. L96 and 98 both have a weird “raw material only” levequest, which can turn of to be HUGE in terms of exp per gil spent.
Same goes with collectables – while they won’t ever be as cost efficient as these special leves, they’re your best bet if you’re running short on levequests.

Hello! Just a heads up: I am currently doing the Lanolin leves in Whitebrim, and the number has been reduced to 1 lanolin per delivery, making it a 3 craft triple-leve; which is basically *amazing*.
72-74 Make it bigger is gliderskin grimoire not codex
I’d like to add something to help out other people who plans to grind out lvl 15-25 using leves. It’s late I know.
For level 15-25 leves, Ash Wand can be bought from the Merchant & Mender in Central Shroud, whereas the Budding Ash Wand can be bought from the same kind of NPC in East Shroud.
I’m not sure where to leave this – there doesn’t seem to be any help or support section – but I can’t click to open any of the clickboxes in most (all?) of these leveling guides. I was able to a couple days ago. It’s not working for other friends I’ve asked to try, either. A little frustrating; I can’t see the macro recommendations anymore, among other things. This website has always been so great to help with leveling jobs, could someone look into fixing this?
Ah–sorry, the comment below wasn’t there when I wrote this up! Apologies for the double-post.
I have been following this guide and have gotten to 64 very easily but I have a small problem…
When I go to the page for 64-70 none of the drop down menus work! I don’t know if it’s just me but I checked on 3 different browsers and had a friend even try. All the other pages work just fine. Kinda bummed because I wanted to see what to get gear wise and what cross skills I’m supposed to “FIX UP” but I can’t.
Looking forward to getting on with my progession and your answer!
Doing some changes on the back-end that affects these interactive elements, it should resolve fairly quickly!
Hello. First off, thank you so much for this guide. I have been following it to great success.
I have noticed that some of your quotation marks for the macros do not copy+paste well into FFXIV. I have to edit every single one in order to use them. I’m NA, so not sure if it’s different in the EU/JP locale? Not a big deal, but if you care, there it is. :)
Thanks!!
Are you referring to the skills with one word? Skills with only one word do not need a quotation mark – if there are others, lemme know!
At least the 71 ALC macros were posted with smart punctuation, which the NA version apparently chokes on. Wasn’t hard to fix with a bit of search and replace in a text editor, but still confusing at first.
Damn I swear i tested this more than once – I replaced them with plain “” and plain text… will look into it again
Hello! Do you plan to update all the guides for lvl 70-80? :3
D O N E!
I have a correction. On the alchemist level 50-60 page, there is this line:
“It’s now in Mor Dhona! Wiltaek (Revenants Toll) is your questgiver… and client!”
The NPC name is misspelled. It should be “Wiltwaek”.
thanks!
I know it’s early on in the class, but the materials for Roof Tiles are not all available from the Alchemy supplier. They don’t sell Straw (but you can take a quick Aethernet jaunt to the Weaver’s guild that does).
Here’s a suggestion if you’re lazy like me, when you first get palace of the dead you need to spam that because it gives you HQ potions with needing to buy and it also lvls up your class for attacking so it’s a win win situation.
It’s Growth Formula Zeta not Growth Formula Theta for the level 58 levequest.
thank you! edited!
Know this is old at this point, but level 68 leve for Palladium Ink is 3 ink total for 1 turn-in
(15-20 range) Ash Branches actually aren’t purchased from the Guild Supplier, only their logs are. But I heard something about unlocking materials…? It’s not there at-level, at least.
You can actually purchase from Ferreol (Carpenters’ Guild Supplier) and Material Suppliers.
Just wanted to throw this out there,
Lv30 Alchemist LeveQuest (Just Give Him a Serum), actually gives a little more EXP compared to the other Singles of the Lv35 Alchemist LeveQuest tier.
Just Give Him a Serum (47.8k EXP for NQ / 95.6k EXP for HQ)
Majority of Singles at Lv35 only gives roughly 41k EXP for NQ (with the exception of the Wand).
So IMO, I think it should also be in that tier considering the amount of EXP it gives and how easy the recipe is.
at lvl 56 you can spam hardsilver ink collectables for cheap and fast exp, got to 60 in 2 hours and made enough blue scrips for my books
You should specify on if the items for class quests need to be High Quality or not
Yes they should be HQ because even for class quests, if you turn in an HQ item it will give you DOUBLE the XP
53 ALC quest is HQ Enchanted Mythrite Ink (x3)
55 ALC quest is HQ Bottles of Grade 1 Intelligence Dissolvent (x3)
58 ALC quest is HQ Draconian Potion of Strength (x1)
60 ALC quest is HQ Noble Gold (x1)
Welcome to the fresh new ALC leveling guide! Comments wiped fresh to prevent confusion
You might want to update the level-30-35 range that you can make Growth Formula Gamma with NPC bought materials… its just that you have to unlock them first…!
Oh lemme look into this!
