Back again to level your ALC to 80 in the Shadowbringers tier? Well, let’s get right to it…
Once more back into the frying pan… into the fire of Shadowbringers Alchemist Leveling! Let’s go!
L70 to L80 DoH Beast Tribe quests: Dwarf
5.3 introduced the Dwarf Beast Tribe, which is a very welcome form of “free and easy” EXP, while getting some cool cosmetic items to boot.
I place this Beast Tribe reminder very far up this guide not only because it’s a mid-patch addition, but also because it’s such a help to push past the dreaded “Dead Zone”. It remains a great source of EXP at any point until you that to hit L80!
Alchemist L70 to L71 – The Deadzone
The first level of any new tier is a little brutal – and hard for me to account for since everyone has different stats coming in. The deadzone is caused by having subpar gear, and how it affects your possible activities to get past it. Fixing up your gear – getting Scrip gear – should be your highest priority at L70, as it will help ALL YOUR CRAFTERS push past the deadzone, and this gear is GOOD UNTIL LEVEL 80!
TLDR: Updating your gear is key to getting out of the deadzone, and when you do – you can use this rotation to help push out of it.
Beating the Deadzone: Sources of EXP
Here we outline the practical (or hopefully practical) sources of EXP to help muscle through this tough stretch. While many of these do not require the scrip gear mentioned above (Custom Deliveries, and easier tier GC Submissions), they will certainly help with some other activities (IE Grinding, making your own levequest items).
And finally, one more source of EXP worth mentioning in its own segment…
Unlock Crystarium Deliveries “Class Quests”
This is a new thing (not to be confused with custom deliveries), that acts like a shared class quest between certain classes. In the case of Alchemist, it shares with Culinarian in the Facet of Nourishing.
It’s a 2 quest process to unlock this.
- 1st Quest: The Crystalline Mean (L70) – Area: The Crystarium
- Requires: MSQ “The Crystarium’s Resolve (L72)”.
- 2nd Quest: Friends of a Feather (L70) – Area: The Crystarium
- Requires: The Crystalline Mean (the 1st quest listed above)
You can submit SIX ITEMS PER TIER PER FACET – shared between your facetmates. So try to save them up to burst through shitty tiers.
After six submissions your esteem goes up and they’re gonna ask for a new set of six items at L73, 75, and 78.
In the case of ALC 70, I’d suggest simply splitting it up between the shared classes, meaning 3 each for ALC and Culinarian, to help get out of the Dead Zone.
Alchemist L70 Levequests
I’ll put the levequest table here, but I’ll repeat it in the next segment with complete discussion (I’ll put a basic recommendation here) – since not all L70 crafters will be able to reliably make it themselves…
Hopefully the Deadzone wont stress you out too much. There’s quite a few ways to push past it, but it definitely is one of the more difficult parts of leveling in a new tier, Shadowbringers to L80 is no exception.
COLLECTABLES – Especially on Alchemist!
Keep an eye out for collectables from here on out. Press CTRL+U and click on Rowena’s House of Splendors to see what’s in demand today. ALC is one of those classes that has “good” collectables (still RNG, though).
Alchemist L71 to 72
A lot goes on in this level so bear with me if it’s a bit lengthy. A majority of your setup ALL THE WAY UNTIL L80 ALC happens here, so it’s worth it. Most noteworthy are a stat-check or gear update and a new rotation that works very well until L80!
ALC L71 GEAR UPDATE
This gear update is similar to the L70 one. You need to get all the L70 Scrip armor, and as many accessories as you need to reach the CP requirements (370~).
ALC L71 ROTATION UPDATE: 80 DURABILITY
The “L71 Mahiko San Synthesis: God’s Touch ™ – 80 Durability” is a ONE BUTTON macro (so it’s thankfully short), while being ABSOLUTE TRUE 100% (baits poor procs with Tricks of the Trade) while also being BUFFLESS.
Macro P1: “MSan 365C/L71/80D” /ac Reflect <wait.3> Even if you somehow could make L76+ recipes – this still 100%’s it. This rotation works from L71, crafting the most difficult possible recipe you can craft at this point (L75). You unlock more recipes at 75 but that’s a different story. Again, being a ONE BUTTON, TRUE 100%, and BUFFLESS macro is something I’m proud of, and great news for you. The “Mahiko San Synthesis: God’s Touch ™ – 40 Durability” Shares many similarities to its 80 Durability counterpart. True 100% success, while being another One Button Macro, and also BUFFLESS. It’s a 364CP rotation – so it’s quite light still. Macro Name: MSan L71/364C/40D /ac Reflect <wait.3> Even if you somehow could make L78 recipes – this still 100%’s it. Again, being a ONE BUTTON, TRUE 100%, and BUFFLESS and works up to the maximum level of recipe you can craft for now. What’s not to like!? Honestly, you don’t even need to do “this tier levequests”. What I did was grind Superior Spiritbond Potion (L72 recipe, used in leves) in advance, using revised engineering manuals. I suppose what I would suggest for the usual person getting past this tier would be, a mix of both ways. Make inks, then submit the triple codex leve a few times – then cap it off by grinding on Superior Spiritbond Potions to 72. L70 – 72 is the most miserable tier for ALC, so do whatever you can to get past it. There’s a rotation upgrade at 73, which I talk about below the levequest discussion. These rotations are TECHNICALLY optional. But they are SHORTER – saves time. More importantly completes virtually any item 100% HQ until leveling to 80 (read notes for specifics). There’s no point to hold off upgrading rotation now… It’s also rated for higher L76 / L78 items. Macro Name: MSan L73/367C/80D /ac Reflect <wait.3> For 80 Durability, this rotation is what you’ll be using until L80. Well, this is the end of the road. True 100% success rate, only 13 Steps, and will cover your butt for EVERYTHING EXCEPT LEVEL 80 CRAFTS – of which are largely irrelevant for leveling. Macro Name: MSan L73/352C/40D /ac Reflect <wait.3> This rotation obliterates any 40 durability item you will encounter during your leveling process while being only 13 steps, having true 100% success rate. Not bad. If you need more CP, remember to just buy as many Scrip accessories as you need, or craft as many L71 right-sides and meld as you need. It’s very easy to reach these CP values, and you can easily choose your path to obtain it. Superior Spiritbond Potion is ultra cost-effective. I cannot imagine myself using any other levequest available to you. 73 offers a new facet quest, of which I simply split between CUL and ALC. ALC gonna ALC – look out for great collectables to save levequests if you need to. Well you have two main options, both of which are great so don’t stress out. If you can afford the mats for Competent Craftsman’s Syrup triple submits, do that. Otherwise go for the usually cheaper Superior Spiritbond Potion triples from last tier. Don’t worry – either choice is great value. L75 unlocks a new facet quest. I just split the EXP evenly between ALC and CUL. Start it off with a truly optional rotation update… I have a very minor rotation update for L76 40 DUR that simply reduces it to 12 steps. It’s not the end of the world if you don’t switch, but i’ll throw it out there anyway Commanding Craftsman’s Syrup is godlike EXP for the effort. I don’t know what else to say. Use previous tier triples or PDO leves if you’re strapped for cash. But, if you can manage it, this tiers triple is the pinnacle of value for ALC in the Shadowbringers tier. Again, collectables are always an option for ALC if you wanna preserve leves so keep an eye out. You’re at the last stretch! Keep going! Since ALC has many viable levequests and many viable collectables, this can go any way really. I submitted a mix of many triple leves to get rid of my extra items, and capped off to 80 continuing submitting the 76 tier triple Commanding Craftsman’s Syrup. I simply couldn’t justify using any of the L78 leves… If you find it costly, feel free to use lower tier triples or, again, especially as ALC – always be on the lookout for great/cheap collectables. Great for saving leves and gaining scrip. L78 has your final facet quest (while leveling), and as usual I simply split it evenly between ALC and CUL. Congratulations! Well, that’s it for the Shadowbringers tier. I have yet to decide if I will revive the end-game guides, lets see. But for now enjoy your L80 Alchemist and go level your other classes!!! Can rotations please be updated to reflect skills that no longer exist, as well as new ones, etc (I.e. Comfort Zone).
Only Stormblood tier rotations are not updated. This is very high on my list of to-do’s
It would be nice if all these levequest list included the locations of where the levequests are.
we will reformat our levequest lists to clearly show locations.
Hello! Just a heads up: I am currently doing the Lanolin leves in Whitebrim, and the number has been reduced to 1 lanolin per delivery, making it a 3 craft triple-leve; which is basically *amazing*.
72-74 Make it bigger is gliderskin grimoire not codex
I’d like to add something to help out other people who plans to grind out lvl 15-25 using leves. It’s late I know.
For level 15-25 leves, Ash Wand can be bought from the Merchant & Mender in Central Shroud, whereas the Budding Ash Wand can be bought from the same kind of NPC in East Shroud.
I’m not sure where to leave this – there doesn’t seem to be any help or support section – but I can’t click to open any of the clickboxes in most (all?) of these leveling guides. I was able to a couple days ago. It’s not working for other friends I’ve asked to try, either. A little frustrating; I can’t see the macro recommendations anymore, among other things. This website has always been so great to help with leveling jobs, could someone look into fixing this?
Ah–sorry, the comment below wasn’t there when I wrote this up! Apologies for the double-post.
I have been following this guide and have gotten to 64 very easily but I have a small problem…
When I go to the page for 64-70 none of the drop down menus work! I don’t know if it’s just me but I checked on 3 different browsers and had a friend even try. All the other pages work just fine. Kinda bummed because I wanted to see what to get gear wise and what cross skills I’m supposed to “FIX UP” but I can’t.
Looking forward to getting on with my progession and your answer!
Doing some changes on the back-end that affects these interactive elements, it should resolve fairly quickly!
Hello. First off, thank you so much for this guide. I have been following it to great success.
I have noticed that some of your quotation marks for the macros do not copy+paste well into FFXIV. I have to edit every single one in order to use them. I’m NA, so not sure if it’s different in the EU/JP locale? Not a big deal, but if you care, there it is. :)
Thanks!!
Are you referring to the skills with one word? Skills with only one word do not need a quotation mark – if there are others, lemme know!
At least the 71 ALC macros were posted with smart punctuation, which the NA version apparently chokes on. Wasn’t hard to fix with a bit of search and replace in a text editor, but still confusing at first.
Damn I swear i tested this more than once – I replaced them with plain “” and plain text… will look into it again
Hello! Do you plan to update all the guides for lvl 70-80? :3
D O N E!
I have a correction. On the alchemist level 50-60 page, there is this line:
“It’s now in Mor Dhona! Wiltaek (Revenants Toll) is your questgiver… and client!”
The NPC name is misspelled. It should be “Wiltwaek”.
thanks!
I know it’s early on in the class, but the materials for Roof Tiles are not all available from the Alchemy supplier. They don’t sell Straw (but you can take a quick Aethernet jaunt to the Weaver’s guild that does).
Here’s a suggestion if you’re lazy like me, when you first get palace of the dead you need to spam that because it gives you HQ potions with needing to buy and it also lvls up your class for attacking so it’s a win win situation.
It’s Growth Formula Zeta not Growth Formula Theta for the level 58 levequest.
thank you! edited!
Know this is old at this point, but level 68 leve for Palladium Ink is 3 ink total for 1 turn-in
(15-20 range) Ash Branches actually aren’t purchased from the Guild Supplier, only their logs are. But I heard something about unlocking materials…? It’s not there at-level, at least.
You can actually purchase from Ferreol (Carpenters’ Guild Supplier) and Material Suppliers.
Just wanted to throw this out there,
Lv30 Alchemist LeveQuest (Just Give Him a Serum), actually gives a little more EXP compared to the other Singles of the Lv35 Alchemist LeveQuest tier.
Just Give Him a Serum (47.8k EXP for NQ / 95.6k EXP for HQ)
Majority of Singles at Lv35 only gives roughly 41k EXP for NQ (with the exception of the Wand).
So IMO, I think it should also be in that tier considering the amount of EXP it gives and how easy the recipe is.
at lvl 56 you can spam hardsilver ink collectables for cheap and fast exp, got to 60 in 2 hours and made enough blue scrips for my books
You should specify on if the items for class quests need to be High Quality or not
Yes they should be HQ because even for class quests, if you turn in an HQ item it will give you DOUBLE the XP
53 ALC quest is HQ Enchanted Mythrite Ink (x3)
55 ALC quest is HQ Bottles of Grade 1 Intelligence Dissolvent (x3)
58 ALC quest is HQ Draconian Potion of Strength (x1)
60 ALC quest is HQ Noble Gold (x1)
Welcome to the fresh new ALC leveling guide! Comments wiped fresh to prevent confusion
You might want to update the level-30-35 range that you can make Growth Formula Gamma with NPC bought materials… its just that you have to unlock them first…!
Oh lemme look into this!
