>> Important: UNLOCK MOOGLE BEAST TRIBE! <<
Moogle Beast Tribe Quests (Daily): Help muscle past 50 to 53!

The introduction of Moogle Beast Tribe quests gives us possibly the “best” method to help our struggling crafters past the extremely difficult L50 to L53 phase.

Starting Quest: Tricks and Stones
NPC & Location: Seething Stonemason, Churning Mists (27, 34)
Prerequisite MSQ: Into the Aery
Prerequisite Sidequests: Laying the First Brick.

Why do Moogle Dailies? They’re EXTREMELY EASY, FREE, FAST, and provide A CHUNK OF EXP – especially useful for the early 3.0 levels, namely 50 to about 53 (before you get a complete set of 3.0 DoH Gear).

The EXP is gained on the class you triggered the quest with – you cannot switch class after completion and get exp on that one, so be careful.

Unlocking this can be a HUGE PAIN IN THE BUTT. There’s about 2.7 billion prerequisite quests – especially painful for those who didn’t quest in Churning Mists. Good luck.

I highly suggest saving these for your lowest level crafter, or to get past “difficult tiers”. Once all of your crafters are past 53, spend them freely or on your highest level crafter!

To those who are familiar with the previous tiers Ixal quests, MOOGLE QUESTS ARE MUCH SIMPLER. There’s no combat or forced gathering involved.

Before you begin ALC 50+

  • Go to the Alchemists guild in Ul’dah, and get your quest to point you to your new quest giver.
  • It’s now in Mor Dhona! Wiltwaek (Revenants Toll) is your questgiver… and client!
  • You get 3 Commercial Issue Crafting Manuals: Use them wisely! Read the damn tooltip.
  • Reminder: DO YOUR GC TURN-IN EVERYDAY. If you can afford it, it’s worth an arm and a leg of EXP.
  • Go to Ishgard and complete the quest “Inscrutable Tastes“. It unlocks the Scrip turn-in system.

Crafting Scrips, turn-ins and your Alchemist:

So how does this all work? Basically, you craft Collectibles and hand them in for EXP, and later on, Scrips. This acts like a ‘free’ levequest! It’s infinitely repeatable – as long as you can afford to make the items. How do you craft a collectible? Using the skill Collectible Synthesis gives you a status effect wherein anything you craft will end up as a collectible.

UNLIKE NORMAL CRAFTING HQ% doesn’t matter. An items collectability is defined by its quality upon completion. So you don’t need to “HQ” everything you craft – just make sure you reach the minimum collectability! When you’re done, you’re prompted to keep the item as a collectible, or complete the synthesis normally. These items cannot be stacked, sold or traded. You may also “lower” an item from a collectible to a regular item!

Alchemist Level 50 to 52

Leveling up your retainer (Battle class) is EXTREME value for Alchemists, and other DoH

ALC 50 Levequest comparison:

  • Enchanted Mythrite Ink: Easy to craft,
  • Archaeoskin Codex: Not bad, related to the above.
  • Void Glue:(R)  Not a terrible choice, but has a higher craft level.

What I did in this tier: Luckily there’s not a bad choice here. I made a lot of Inks, and turned the NQ ones I made into Codex. Even if Codex’s we’re a bit expensive at the time, I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away. Also, keep an eye out, they come out as GC and Collectible turn-ins, too. Finally, the Codex option is the only 80 durability choice right now, so if your gear is bad you may be making more of them than the Inks.

ALC 52,53 Gear Check: Depending on how intense your DOH gear was coming into 50+, upgrading your Mainhand at L52 to Mythrite Alembic, and Offhand at 53 to Mythrite Mortar could prove to be a HUGE gain in stats. Same goes with an HQ Rainbow Coatee. Most people would want to upgrade these three items for now, don’t bother with the other slots just yet…

Alchemist Level 52 to 54

ALC 52 Levequest comparison:

  • Wyvernskin Grimoire: Roughly average to the below single submit, but I’d rank this the worst of the bunch.
  • Grade 1 Mind Dissolvent: Would likely go for these.
  • Holy Water:(R)  I know people hate triples, but this is dirt cheap in comparison.

What I did in this tier: The value of these leves are directly proportional to how you personally obtain materials, or how you are as a player when getting them… I’ll go out on a limb and suggest the repeatable – Holy Water. Half of this is buyable from an NPC, and the other half is a low-impact mining gather. To be honest, I cant foresee recommending the single leves here even if the craft time is significantly increased. Mind Dissolvents aren’t too painful, either. Even if you’re hard up HQing waters, they’re quite cheap and are used for many base materials. Only go for Grimoires if you need an 80 durability, or get good, son.

Alchemist Level 54 to 56

ALC 54 Levequest comparison:

  • Wing Glue: Do a price check on these. Can range from terrible to heavenly value.
  • Dhalmelskin Codex: Mediocre choice in this tier.
  • Enchanted Hardsilver Ink:(R)  My personal choice, and could be better than Wing Glue some days.

What I did in this tier: Very similar to the first tier, huh? Wing Glue is highly variable on Ahriman Wings price. I can’t count it out since NTH is quite popular, but supply/demand swings affect it greatly. Enchanted Hardsilver Ink should be the “baseline” in this tier. Again I hate to recommend a triple but it is what it is. I didn’t bother converting failed inks into Codex’s. I just MB’d them or submitted them NQ.

ALC Level 56 – Scrip tier collectibles: Once you hit 56 you’ve now entered the scrip tier! Trust me on this, you’re going to need ALOT of these guys. Alchemists are an above average class to farm scrips with. CUL and GSM are by far the best… however, if you have access to a lot of these monster drops… ALC may not be so bad!

Alchemist Level 56 to 58

ALC 56 Levequest comparison:

  • Hallowed Water: Again, half of this is NPCable.
  • Hallowed Chestnut Wand: SUCKS. STAY AWAY FROM THIS.
  • Draconian Potion of Dexterity:(R)  MAY BE OK if you’re buying from the MB. Compare to Hallowed..

What I did in this tier: Hallowed Water all the way. It has a relatively low recipe level, and is infinitely better than H.Chestnut Wand. Draconian Potion of Dexterity is just plain weird… It’s a master recipe, and has a high difficulty. If you don’t mind NQ’s you may be able to pick some up on the cheap… But yeah, overall there are limited value moves in this tier… I crafted a ton of Hallowed Waters, and turned the NQ ones into Hallowed cloth/lumbers. HQ ones I submitted. Didn’t bother with Draconian Dex but AGAIN, check the MB if you’re that kind of guy. (get good, son.)

Alchemist Level 58 to 60

ALC 58 Levequest comparison:

  • Enchanted Aurum Regis Ink: Wont get much better than this. Roughly equal to the triple…
  • Noble Gold: Haha, really?
  • Growth Formula Zeta:(R) Not bad at all. If you’re in the triple mood…

What I did in this tier: I honestly feel that Growth Formula is the highest value here since it’s easier to ‘convert’ NQ’s into something else. Overall I think most people will default to Aurum Regis Ink. I personally used a mix of both leves – BUT STAYED THE HELL AWAY FROM NOBLE GOLD. It also pisses me off that It’s a proper noun. Anyway, yeah. Check the board for cheap HQ base mats for each and do the best you can.

  1. Can rotations please be updated to reflect skills that no longer exist, as well as new ones, etc (I.e. Comfort Zone).

  2. Hello! Just a heads up: I am currently doing the Lanolin leves in Whitebrim, and the number has been reduced to 1 lanolin per delivery, making it a 3 craft triple-leve; which is basically *amazing*.

  3. I’d like to add something to help out other people who plans to grind out lvl 15-25 using leves. It’s late I know.
For level 15-25 leves, Ash Wand can be bought from the Merchant & Mender in Central Shroud, whereas the Budding Ash Wand can be bought from the same kind of NPC in East Shroud.

  4. I’m not sure where to leave this – there doesn’t seem to be any help or support section – but I can’t click to open any of the clickboxes in most (all?) of these leveling guides. I was able to a couple days ago. It’s not working for other friends I’ve asked to try, either. A little frustrating; I can’t see the macro recommendations anymore, among other things. This website has always been so great to help with leveling jobs, could someone look into fixing this?

  5. I have been following this guide and have gotten to 64 very easily but I have a small problem…
When I go to the page for 64-70 none of the drop down menus work! I don’t know if it’s just me but I checked on 3 different browsers and had a friend even try. All the other pages work just fine. Kinda bummed because I wanted to see what to get gear wise and what cross skills I’m supposed to “FIX UP” but I can’t.

Looking forward to getting on with my progession and your answer!

  6. Hello. First off, thank you so much for this guide. I have been following it to great success.

I have noticed that some of your quotation marks for the macros do not copy+paste well into FFXIV. I have to edit every single one in order to use them. I’m NA, so not sure if it’s different in the EU/JP locale? Not a big deal, but if you care, there it is. :)

    Thanks!!

      1. At least the 71 ALC macros were posted with smart punctuation, which the NA version apparently chokes on. Wasn’t hard to fix with a bit of search and replace in a text editor, but still confusing at first.

  7. I have a correction. On the alchemist level 50-60 page, there is this line:

“It’s now in Mor Dhona! Wiltaek (Revenants Toll) is your questgiver… and client!”

The NPC name is misspelled. It should be “Wiltwaek”.

  8. I know it’s early on in the class, but the materials for Roof Tiles are not all available from the Alchemy supplier. They don’t sell Straw (but you can take a quick Aethernet jaunt to the Weaver’s guild that does).

  9. Here’s a suggestion if you’re lazy like me, when you first get palace of the dead you need to spam that because it gives you HQ potions with needing to buy and it also lvls up your class for attacking so it’s a win win situation.

  10. (15-20 range) Ash Branches actually aren’t purchased from the Guild Supplier, only their logs are. But I heard something about unlocking materials…? It’s not there at-level, at least.

  11. Just wanted to throw this out there,

Lv30 Alchemist LeveQuest (Just Give Him a Serum), actually gives a little more EXP compared to the other Singles of the Lv35 Alchemist LeveQuest tier.

Just Give Him a Serum (47.8k EXP for NQ / 95.6k EXP for HQ)
Majority of Singles at Lv35 only gives roughly 41k EXP for NQ (with the exception of the Wand).

So IMO, I think it should also be in that tier considering the amount of EXP it gives and how easy the recipe is.

  12. at lvl 56 you can spam hardsilver ink collectables for cheap and fast exp, got to 60 in 2 hours and made enough blue scrips for my books

    1. Yes they should be HQ because even for class quests, if you turn in an HQ item it will give you DOUBLE the XP

  13. 53 ALC quest is HQ Enchanted Mythrite Ink (x3)
55 ALC quest is HQ Bottles of Grade 1 Intelligence Dissolvent (x3)
58 ALC quest is HQ Draconian Potion of Strength (x1)
60 ALC quest is HQ Noble Gold (x1)

  14. You might want to update the level-30-35 range that you can make Growth Formula Gamma with NPC bought materials… its just that you have to unlock them first…!
