Heavensward Monk Best-in-Slot
As an unspoken rule to this BiS list, Tantra Gear <=> Gordian Gear serve as natural filler gear to each other.
MNK Slot | BiS | - | - |
---|---|---|---|
Weapon | Rising Suns | ||
Offhand | - | - | - |
Head | Tantra Tantour | ||
Body | Gordian Mail of Striking | <- OR ANY, This slot is "free" | |
Gloves | Gordian Gauntlets of Striking | ||
Belt | Fabled Belt of Slaying | ||
Legs | Gordian Breeches of Striking | ||
Boots | Gordian Sabatons of Striking | ||
Neck | Fabled Necklace of Slaying | ||
Earrings | Gordian Earrings of Slaying | ||
Bracelet | Fabled Bracelets of Slaying | ||
Ring | Gordian Ring of Slaying | ||
Ring | Fabled Ring of Slaying | ||
Food | Baked Pipira Pira |
It’s pretty straightforward. There are only 3 notable 210 options, name Chest, Boots and Head.
MNK BiS Discussion, Notes & Options
THE CHEST SLOT: is a little iffy for me. Honestly, either would be okay. Here’s the reasoning…
- Both shirts accuracy are irrelevant: You’ll hit cap with either.
- It boils down to 94SS (Gordian) vs 63 DET (Tantra)
- While 94 SS is likely better, it does come with TP issues.
Honestly, most Monks will be in a position to buy and Gobtwine the Tantra shirt before they would have a chance to see a 210 Gordian Chest… so while Gordian INCHES itself above tantra, the Tantra is a solid filler (and one you’ll likely own before the other). It’s not like you’re going to spend them anywhere else if you’re seriously planning to clear. Besides, the difference between the two is so blurry that either could be BiS.
Boots: The other 210, Tantra Gaiters serve as an accuracy filler in case the boots seem far away. If you buy the Gaiters, you can spend A2S pages on accessories after gloves.
Helm: The other 210, Gordian Sallet of Striking, isn’t bad. A solid filler that gives CRIT/ACC. If it happens to drop for you, nice.
A1S Pages: Ring > Earrings > Filler
A2S Pages: Gloves > Boots > 3x Gobcoat
A3S Pages: Legs > 1/2 Gobtwine > Filler
A4S Pages: Gobdip > Shirt > Filler
3.0 MNK Esoterics Buy Order
If you’re wondering how to spend your saved up ESO tomes for Monk:
- Weapon: It’s BiS and worth the most ESO to DPS Gain ratio.
- Head: CRIT/DET – awesome for DPS, careful because it has no accuracy!
- Belt: Same case as the head above.
- (Body): For the eso spent, this is great even if non BiS. If you’re farming A4S, you can skip this.
- Bracelet>Necklace>Ring, is the best order for Fabled Accessories
- Everything else is NON-BIS and OPTIONAL
- Body is legit filler you SHOULD BE BUYING. Just a reminder, hehe.
- Left-side purchases purely for ‘power’ is a good choice. Your healers will thank you.
- Only 2 nonbis right sides exist. Meh.
Monk Crafted Gear Viability & VIT Accessories
VIT Accessories for MNK
If for some god forsaken reason you want VIT on your Monk… first we have to see which accessory sucks most, and which crafted is best (then find the most ‘value’ choice). That leads us to…
Chrysolite Ring of Slaying (replacing Fabled)
Melding: VIT IV – VIT IV – VIT IV – FREE – VIT III or FREE
For the free slots on the ring, ACC or DET would be good. The final VIT III is optional, but if you need the HP, that’s the whole point of the ring…
Citrine Choker of Slaying
Melding: VIT IV – VIT IV – VIT IV – VIT III or FREE – CRIT III.
This ones a little more straightforward. The “VIT III or FREE” is better off as VIT (reasoning same as above). You can only place SS or DET there, since the final CRIT III ‘caps’ crit.
180 Crafted left for MNK & Melding
Griffin Leather Tricorne of Striking: CRIT IV x 4 – CRIT III
Nothing better than the above. ALT: Any CRIT to SS.
Griffin Leather Coat of Striking: CRIT IV – DET IV x 2 – CRIT III x 2
Caps crit and Acc. ALT: Any DET to SS.
Griffin Leather Bracers of Striking: ACC IV x 3 – CRIT III x 2
Caps Crit and DET. ALT: Any ACC to SS.
Astral Silk Sash of Striking: CRIT IV x 3 – ACC IV – CRIT III
A strange one.. still caps Crit though. ALT: ACC to DET.
Griffin Leather Brais of Striking: Crit IV x 5
While looks bad on paper, the other legs suck… read more below.
Griffin Leather Boots of Striking: DET IV x 5
Not too bad, I guess. Fits (24) Accuracy if you’d want it.
Usefulness Summary
HAT: Better than 190, only loses to Gordian. Good investment.
COAT: Hmm.. OK to have but 190 inches ahead. Skip.
GLOVE: Very good, only Gordian really beats it. Good investment.
BELT: Not that good of an investment since ESO belt smashes it. Skip.
LEGS: 180 is comparable to this… I wouldn’t bother.
BOOT: I wouldn’t bother with these since 190 is very comparable. Skip.

Remember all Monks, dying versus losing Greased Lightning – choose death (But you didn’t hear it from me)! “GL” farming up your BiS!!!
hi im curious instead of det on some of these can i just but a strength V materia?
STR is capped on HQ or raid gear which already has STR in it.
!!!!! ALL COMMENTS BELOW ARE PRE-HEAVENSWARD 3.0 !!!!!
when you coming out with 3.2 BIS for MNK?
When do we get the 3.2 gear list!
I am posting it tomorrow. Since I cannot get a consensus between 2 lists, I may be posting TWO separate BiS lists with some caveats for each.
Obviously dark is extremely retarded as you can all see by his comments
Not really, the Only one that seems retarted and prolly butthurt is you so please go back play crap games like Wow or for Kids u can also choose Hello kitty online.
not really little boy, seems the only one that is ” extremly ” retarted is you here prolly also butthurted after or brainless comment. mayb go back play crap games like WoW ? sounds like you coming from there lol
monks need SKS lol if ppl say they dont need, they dont understand the job then, SKS incr ur dps and if u cry u fast out of tp then manage ur skills and learn to play it, for that we have also brd or nin to asssist mnk with TP whenever needed in coil exampel and u got invigorate or whatever name, mnk is single target dps king and that will stay like that. SKS is NOT a wasted stat!!
Definitely not wasted. But anything above X amount is definitely “too much”. Without a highly specialized coil group, you will run out of TP.
uhm not really, even with 450-470 SKS u wont run out. dungeons are easy bosses die fast. raids like ST or WoD u can also manage it bosses dies actually fast enough to not run out of TP unless the dps from the other ppl is so low that it take ages to kill the boss but even if so u ll be short on TP in the last 15-20% until the Invigorate ll be ready to use, if u got a brd or nin and he use his head to assist u, u wont run out, but even then u ll only run out of TP if u manage or adjust the fight wrong due to the high SKS. in coil u wont run out either
Dark, could you provide your skill rotation? I’d love to see how to effectively dps and keep my tp under control, and skill rotations seem to be so varied.
Ummm. Considering the T13’s Earthshaker which can make monk move away from boss, I think at least we need around 400 SKS (which is still the global standard for monk) What do you think about the BiS for T13? Thanks for the general BiS though.
Hmmm well.. After I switch gears in the gear calculator, I think can use Dreadwyrm Bracelet with 531 acc, 448 crit, 383 det, 407 sks. But the accuracy will barely made it.
I think it would be much more useful if you had a pre-T13 vs post T13 set. The “zero sks” build is clearly inferior. You’re just picking up wasted extra accuracy for no reason.
Alot of people are pretty anal about SKS. A few extra points of acc isn’t a massive loss cosidering the crit and det gained.
Thanks for the update!
I’ll just point out that the item in the “Neck” category is a Bracelet.
Checking!
Thanks for the update! Pointing out the gear you put in “Neck” in actually a “Wrist” one :<
Dumb question. What does that note next glazefaust mean? I’m not entirely in mmo lingo so i have no idea what the neat UAT stands for
Can you do a Gloam Ring coupled with a Weathered Gloam Ring instead of the High Allagan ring? The trade off would be more determination compared to the 2 extra strength and 7 extra accuracy. Since you don’t really need the skill speed, wouldn’t the extra determination be worth it?
no. the 2 strength and added stats overall still outweighs it.
Neither of the page 2 links actually go to Pre-Turn 6 right now. Top goes to 2.2 DRG and bottom link to 2.2 WHM.
fixed!
