Leveling DoH has always been, “The slower you go – the cheaper and easier it will be”. Since you have many sources of burst exp.
Custom Deliveries – extremely cheap and extremely powerful, but only reset weekly. Use these when you feel like the current tier is a pain!
Loporrit Beast Tribe – Easy, cheap and great EXP. Resets daily.
GC Submissions – daily, and give a gigaton of EXP, far outweighs levequests. Maximize these as long as you can!
Levequests – your “main” source of EXP. Not infinite, but this is considered the “Standard Baseline” of DoH EXP gains. Gotta balance between the EXP of the levequest vs your budget.
Collectables – The “lower end” of EXP gains, but the upside is you can do them infinitely. The EXP per Gil ratio here is by far the worse, but sometimes you gotta do them to get little bits of EXP here and there. Always look out for “bargains”. Typically, the cost of a collectible is its main factor as the EXP different doesn’t really matter since you can spam them.
Grinding – great to just gain EXP and Gil, since you can easily sell levequest items, or other “ingots” (leathers). Great for “afk” play.
Food buff gives 3% EXP, so try to have it on!
Withiout further ado – let’s do this.

LTW L80 Initial Rotations
While the 80 Durability Rotation “needs” to be updated later at 86, (and another recipe is needed for ONLY L89 recipes), the 40 Durability Rotation can be used during the whole leveling process.
Limitation: Do not try to craft “too high compared to your level” with this. +2 Levels should be fine, but why even try… Just stick to the things in your tier. This is a pretty basic TRUE 100% “Mahiko San Tricks” rotation. Meaning, it will never ever land a Poor on Byregot’s.

This one I’m proud of, it’s a TRUE 100% “Mahiko San Tricks” rotation that WORKS ON EVERY ENDWALKER 40 DUR (while leveling up). It accounts for the oddly levelled L85 ALC “ingots” (Moon Gel, Sungold Firesand), and works on pre-86 Groundwork trait.
It has ONE fail case – crafting WAY above your level. So be careful making
Moon Gel 85, when you’re like L81 (but it works at 82)

while Gajaskin Tabi is obviously the much better leve…
Gaja leather is a good budget option is your if gil is tight.
Leatherworker’s collectable in the L80 tier is Rarefied Gajaskin Shoes. Needs 11.53 Submissions to reach the next tier (as an easy way to compare to Leves). Gives 1055241 EXP at max collectability.
Nothing special here, use them if you wanna save leves.
LTW L80 tier – what to do
Make sure your get the macros for the initial rotations!
Not many choices right now, Gajaskin Tabi Leves is stronger, but Gaja Leather is great if you’re on a bugdet. Saving Leves? Use the cheapest collectable.

Luncheon Toadskin Jacket of Scouting gives GODLY EXP, but potentially costly. The boots leve… it’s a “basic” option.
Leatherworker’s collectable in the L82 tier is Rarefied Luncheon Toadskin Hose. Needs 11.48 submissions to reach the next tier as an easy way to compare to Leves). Gives 1232055 EXP at max collectability.
Nothing to say here, use if you wanna save on leves. Has a cloth, so it might add to costs…
LTW L82 tier – what to do
“Scouting Talent”, the jacket leve is obviously the most powerful BY FAR, and if you can do this great. I doubt the other levequests should even be considered – EXCEPT the L80 Gaja Leather “budget” levequest.
As always, if saving leves use the CHEAPEST collectable.

Saigaskin Coat of Fending (Loyal Turncoat) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 4.71 Leves (HQ) to reach the next tier, LTW L86. As Compared to Saiga Leather (Battered Books) which needs 8.7 Leves (HQ). 1,725,980 XP vs. 933,280 XP.
Saigaskin Coat of Fending – it’s the most powerful leve so far. But it might be expensive. Thankfully Saiga Leather is a great “super budget” option.
Leatherworker’s collectable in the L84 tier is Rarefied Saigaskin Gloves. Needs 11.46 submissions to reach the next tier (as an easy way to compare to Leves). Gives 1417077 EXP at max collectability.
Again, this has a cloth so be wary – but if you wanna save leves you don’t have much of a choice.
LTW L84 tier – what to do
“Loyal Turncoat”, this tiers armor leve, and even the previous tier are both still valid. Choose the best one in your budget. Saiga Leather is now your new go to budget levequest – dirt cheap for almost 1 million EXP!
As always, if saving leves use the CHEAPEST collectable.

LTW L86 Levequests Discussion / Collectable Note
Kumbhiraskin Gloves of the Black Griffin (Grips of Fear) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 6.24 Leves (HQ) to reach the next tier, LTW L88. As Compared to Kumbhiraskin Boots of Gathering (Loving Soles) which needs 6.5 Leves (HQ). 1,503,270 XP vs. 1,443,780 XP.
The actual EXP difference between these two is negligible, though. Notably, leves from the PREVIOUS TWO TIERS give more exp than these. So just judge based on your budget and pricing. The two on this tier aren’t that notable, and would only be attractive if they’re cheap.
Leatherworker’s collectable in the L86 tier is Rarefied Kumbhiraskin Shoes. Needs 11.51 submissions to reach the next tier (as an easy way to compare to Leves). Gives 1629459 EXP at max collectability.
Nothing else to say here…
LTW L86 tier – what to do
Since both of these new levequests are a little weaker than the previous TWO levequest tiers armor leves – it doesn’t matter which you choose. Choose one of these if they’re vastly cheaper, but L84 “Loyal Turncoat” is still the most powerful leve you can do. Saiga Leather is your best budget option.
As always, if saving leves or need a bit of EXP – do the cheapest collectable.

Ophiotauroskin Boots of Healing (Generous Soles) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 6.25 Leves (HQ) to reach the next tier, LTW L90. As Compared to Ophiotauroskin Wristband of Gathering (For What Was Gleaned) which needs 7.3 Leves (HQ). 1,703,250 XP vs. 1,457,380 XP.
Saigaskin Coat of Fending from L84 actually gives MORE EXP. It is what it is. Only do these if you find them to be much cheaper. Notably the “worse leve”, the wristband, is a great “basic option”, only costing 3 components.
Leatherworker’s collectable in the L88 tier is Rarefied Ophiotauroskin Top. Needs 11.49 submissions to reach the next tier (as an easy way to compare to Leves). Gives 1853298 EXP at max collectability.
Nothing else to say here…
LTW L88 tier – what to do
Again, this tiers levequests are not “speacial” – but they may be cheaper options. It’s purely a choice of budget, since the EXP difference isn’t big at this point. Choose what’s cheapest! Notice how this tier gives 1.7m EXP leve – which you had access to quite some time ago haha.
Cheapest collectable is best if you need a little exp here and there or are saving levequests.

Just wondering if you will update the DoH class quest item reference for level 63 and above? Maybe compile it in one section like you did for level 1 – 50?
Class Quest items in Stormblood onwards aren’t “true items” anymore.
You might want to amend in some way the LTW HW quest item. The actual recipe name is the “Chivalric Longcoat of Aiming”. The autofill name at Gamer Escape *is* “Chivalric Battlecoat of Aiming” (and your link redirects to the Gamer Escape main page, looks like xovdb.com is gone but redirecting there). But, again, anyone just looking for the recipe in their LTW Master 3 book will find “longcoat”, not “battlecoat”.
Note that you cannot just cut and paste the macros–whatever publishing software is being used replaces single and double quotes with ones that are “prettier”, but which don’t work
They should be “fixed”? Care to chime in?
The ‘Swallowskin Shoes of Healing’ lvl78 triple leve give 7,019,030 exp per hand in. As everyone else says too; these guides are the best. I love DoH and DoL but I’m honestly not sure if I’d still play FFXIV if it wasn’t for your help breaking through the grind.
As a new player. All these acronyms in these guides make them useless to me. Just tell me what to kill and where to farm the materials.
Which acronyms are these?
I tried using this but I couldn’t follow it. I have no idea where to even start looking at the LTW 1 LEVE with something called The Bannock? I couldn’t find a Bannock anywhere on the gridania map. Where are we supposed to go to find the leve quests? The quest giver in the leatherworking place has a red mark over its head.
First off I would like to say terrific blog! I had a quick question in which I’d
like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear
your head prior to writing. I’ve had trouble clearing my mind in getting my
thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to
15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas
or tips? Cheers!
Oh man, I really don’t know… It takes practice though I’ve been doing it for years haha – but I always want to improve. My methods back then differ greatly from now. My only suggestion is to BEGIN somewhere, and remember to improve upon your tactics every so often! PM me on Tonberry – Mahiko San, if you wanna talk about it!
You deserve a kudos for this guide, most are boring as hell to read, and tedious to remember, this is written in a way that gamers will find both amusing and informative, good job *insert a thumbs up emoji here, cus why the hell not*
Just a small correction, for the level 64 leve quests Tiger Leather and Tigerskin boots are swapped. Tigerskin boots are actually for the single turn in Shoe on the other foot, and Tiger Leather is used for the Triple Turn in Tiger in the Sack.
Thanks for the heads up!
Even better.
For the ltw from lvl 56 you can turn in Dhalmel leather as collectable… imo, it’s the cheapest way to lvl up from 56 to 60. (Also happens with other jobs, like the WVR with Ramie cloth)
You get a bunch of dhalmel hides from reatiner and the dark chestnut logs gathered from forelands… then it’s just 2 or 3 hours of crafting with macros. (I used the 2.0 bis and the blue scrips chest)
This is value. Is it 100% chance? This didn’t appear in the list back then, although a lot of the “ingots” appear these days.

ALL COMMENTS BELOW ARE PRE-HEAVENSWARD!!!!
For the 25-30 there is the leve “Campaign in the Membrane” with Toadskin Jacket being handed in
The courier and local leves at 35 are mixed up; the courier leve requests boarskin ringband while the local leve “Soft Shoe Shuffle” requires the peisteskin crakows
You absolutely need to update this and fix this, it’s been over a year since Katherine pointed out the Hard Leather Cesti bit and you haven’t done anything about it.
I might have just forgotten about it. I will update it today!
I don’t really understand the automatic hostility towards precursor leves. I can understand how they -can- be expensive, but out of hand? The level 25 leve for Padded Leather Duckbills is made completely out of vendor items. In a set of leves full of Aldgoat leather, expensive items from other tradeskills, and generally simply not things that can be obtained from a vendor, the Padded Leather Duckbills are far and away the cheapest option there, even if consuming more shards than the other ones.
Now that would completely depend on server prices and may fluctuate greatly. Like mentioned in all guides please use discretion. This block of text isn’t the LAW, but truly a GUIDE. As such, your input is appreciated and may provide insight for others in the future.
The recommendations are the “likely” cheapest given many factors :)
This one and a lot of guides here are just bad and need to reworked. So many instances where it rejects a leve because an item may be expensive/difficult to craft while at the same time suggesting to do the actual expensive (and tedious with minimal reward) repeatable leves. About the only thing they’re good for is a reference for which are the courier leves because that’s gonna be the best and fastest exp, but even then the information is inaccurate in places, like the 35-40 courier which actually asks for Boarskin Ringbands. A comment mentioned it but I didn’t look down to read it and I had already wasted time and leves making crakows before realizing the error.
COURIER will ALWAYS yield the highest exp.. what’s the sacrifice? Time. At level 35+, courier can take a looooooooong while due to travelling.
Level 45-50… you can buy the raptorskin atisians belt in st. Coinach find for less than 4k.
Still costly but not a bad thing to do in a bind!
Boarskin Ringbands is actually a courier leve from Gridania to Coerthas.
Just a heads up about the level 20 leves: the Hard Leather Cesti is made using ALDGOAT Leather, NOT Hard Leather as the name might imply. Aldgoat Leather has to be crafted and cannot be obtained from NPCs AFAIK. So this might affect which leve is best for this leveling stretch.
Otherwise, this guide is very useful. Thanks so much for posting it!
