DoH Dawntrail Tier General Notes / Strategy
GC Submissions are, as usual, godly. These are vastly more powerful than the average levequest, and they don’t even use up an allowance. The bonus ones are especially juicy.
Custom Deliveries are also great, and even give you meaningful rewards. This of course only resets weekly, so use them wisely.
Levequests are your main source of EXP. Use them up before you consider doing anything else.
Collectables are always viable, and sometimes there are amazing ones which are on average “cheaper” than a levequest item. The EXP though is usually less than half of a levequest so this can hurt your wallet.
Grinding is OK, as long as you’re making stuff you can sell. “Ingots”, and other levequest items will always have demand! Get paid to level up! haha.
Food Buff / Manuals: 3% is 3%, and manuals are a welcome boost. These aren’t mandatory but by all means use them if you have ’em.
NO DAWNTRAIL BEAST TRIBE YET.
Wachumeqimeqi Quests? Kind of suck, EXP wise. While there’s a story, and that can be cool, the actual EXP PER ITEM is strangely BAD. It’s generally worse than a Collectable, even.

In this tier, both levequests give the EXACT same exp, needing only 9.35 HQ Levequest Submissions (1440660 base XP) to reach the next tier, L92. So pick whichever is CHEAPER for you between (The Perfect Accessory) Loboskin Amulet of Fending, or (Tenets of Tanning) Silver Lobo Leather.
What else is there to say – they give the same exp. While the leathers are likely cheaper, you need to make ’em thrice. (…or buy)
The LTW L91 Collectable is Rarefied Loboskin Fingerless Gloves, you need 11.53 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L92. Each one gives 2335689 EXP at max collectability.
Basic collectable, nothing special to say here. Do these if saving leves.
LTW 90-92, what to do this tier?
There’s not many options now ey? Two equal leves, and a collectable. Just do whichever is cheapest for you – avoid the collectable unless you really need to save leves.

Basic collectable, nothing special to say here. Do these if saving leves.
LTW 92-94, what to do this tier?
So in this tier, it’s two new levequests with the SAME EXACT EXP AND MATERIALS NEEDED, haha. So either you do one of these – or if you’re on a budget the previous tiers leathers are a good choice.

Br’aaxskin Halfgloves of Crafting (Lending Artisans a Hand) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 7.29 Leves (HQ submission) to reach the next tier, LTW L96. As Compared to Br’aax Leather (Respect for Br’aax) which needs 9.41 Leves (HQ submission). 4909520 XP vs. 3804860 XP (HQ submission).
Ah, finally some variety! The gloves are the most powerful leve thus far, and you have another budget option with Br’aax Leathers.
The LTW L95 Collectable is Rarefied Br’aaxskin Armlets, you need 11.46 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L96. Each one gives 3122973 EXP at max collectability.
Basic collectable, nothing special to say here. Do these if saving leves.
LTW 94-96, what to do this tier?
The best leve so far is this tiers gloves. The previous tiers leves are still valid if they’re much cheaper, as they’re all four component leves. As for budget levequests, this tiers Br’aaxskin Leathers are a great option.

Gomphotherium Doublet of Gathering (Giving Gatherers Their Gear) is the “better levequest”, it needs only 5.00 Leves (HQ submission) to reach the next tier, LTW L98. As Compared to Gomphotherium Boots of Striking (Freezing Toes) which needs 6.75 Leves (HQ submission). 8250720 XP vs. 6119040 XP (HQ submission).
Finally, a six component levequest! The doublet gives 8m+ on an HQ submission. The boots are your typical four component leve.
The LTW L97 Collectable is Rarefied Gomphotherium Brais, you need 11.52 max collectability submissions to reach the next tier, L98. Each one gives 3583647 EXP at max collectability.
Basic collectable, nothing special to say here. Do these if saving leves.
LTW 96-98, what to do this tier?
The answer is obvious. Spam the Doublet levequest. 8m EXP is no joke. I wouldn’t bother with the boots. Doublet too pricey? You’d need to look at lower tiers for a budget option. The leather only leves are a decent option.

Warning: There’s a tiny bit of a roadbump ahead.
Leatherworker Leveling 98 to 100
Before proceeding: If you plan on crafting L99 Recipes you need to do EITHER one of these two things:
Recommended: Craft a SINGLE non-ring Acacia DoH accessory, and Meld it with at least 11 CP. (ONE OF: Acacia Earrings, Acacia Necklace, or Acacia Bracelet, and any melds that total to +11 CP).
Other solution: Buy “Stone Soup” food buff from the Gold Saucer Tapkeep. It gives 17 CP. It only costs like 37 gil each. I don’t like this since you might forget the food buff.
If you only plan to craft L98 recipes, you don’t need to use the above,
the macros still work for L98 Recipes.
Rotation Update L98/99 Leatherworker Recipes
Two new rotations here, L98/99 recipes which (if using on 99) needs the preparation above. There’s an HQ for 40 DUR as well, but it’s only 99% HQ, lol. Close enough right? But I doubt you’ll ever NEED it.

Just wondering if you will update the DoH class quest item reference for level 63 and above? Maybe compile it in one section like you did for level 1 – 50?
Class Quest items in Stormblood onwards aren’t “true items” anymore.
You might want to amend in some way the LTW HW quest item. The actual recipe name is the “Chivalric Longcoat of Aiming”. The autofill name at Gamer Escape *is* “Chivalric Battlecoat of Aiming” (and your link redirects to the Gamer Escape main page, looks like xovdb.com is gone but redirecting there). But, again, anyone just looking for the recipe in their LTW Master 3 book will find “longcoat”, not “battlecoat”.
Note that you cannot just cut and paste the macros–whatever publishing software is being used replaces single and double quotes with ones that are “prettier”, but which don’t work
They should be “fixed”? Care to chime in?
The ‘Swallowskin Shoes of Healing’ lvl78 triple leve give 7,019,030 exp per hand in. As everyone else says too; these guides are the best. I love DoH and DoL but I’m honestly not sure if I’d still play FFXIV if it wasn’t for your help breaking through the grind.
As a new player. All these acronyms in these guides make them useless to me. Just tell me what to kill and where to farm the materials.
Which acronyms are these?
I tried using this but I couldn’t follow it. I have no idea where to even start looking at the LTW 1 LEVE with something called The Bannock? I couldn’t find a Bannock anywhere on the gridania map. Where are we supposed to go to find the leve quests? The quest giver in the leatherworking place has a red mark over its head.
First off I would like to say terrific blog! I had a quick question in which I’d
like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to find out how you center yourself and clear
your head prior to writing. I’ve had trouble clearing my mind in getting my
thoughts out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to
15 minutes tend to be lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas
or tips? Cheers!
Oh man, I really don’t know… It takes practice though I’ve been doing it for years haha – but I always want to improve. My methods back then differ greatly from now. My only suggestion is to BEGIN somewhere, and remember to improve upon your tactics every so often! PM me on Tonberry – Mahiko San, if you wanna talk about it!
You deserve a kudos for this guide, most are boring as hell to read, and tedious to remember, this is written in a way that gamers will find both amusing and informative, good job *insert a thumbs up emoji here, cus why the hell not*
Just a small correction, for the level 64 leve quests Tiger Leather and Tigerskin boots are swapped. Tigerskin boots are actually for the single turn in Shoe on the other foot, and Tiger Leather is used for the Triple Turn in Tiger in the Sack.
Thanks for the heads up!
Even better.
For the ltw from lvl 56 you can turn in Dhalmel leather as collectable… imo, it’s the cheapest way to lvl up from 56 to 60. (Also happens with other jobs, like the WVR with Ramie cloth)
You get a bunch of dhalmel hides from reatiner and the dark chestnut logs gathered from forelands… then it’s just 2 or 3 hours of crafting with macros. (I used the 2.0 bis and the blue scrips chest)
This is value. Is it 100% chance? This didn’t appear in the list back then, although a lot of the “ingots” appear these days.
this is a basic shopping list for the recipes 1-15, feel free to use it to update your page

ALL COMMENTS BELOW ARE PRE-HEAVENSWARD!!!!
For the 25-30 there is the leve “Campaign in the Membrane” with Toadskin Jacket being handed in
The courier and local leves at 35 are mixed up; the courier leve requests boarskin ringband while the local leve “Soft Shoe Shuffle” requires the peisteskin crakows
You absolutely need to update this and fix this, it’s been over a year since Katherine pointed out the Hard Leather Cesti bit and you haven’t done anything about it.
I might have just forgotten about it. I will update it today!
I don’t really understand the automatic hostility towards precursor leves. I can understand how they -can- be expensive, but out of hand? The level 25 leve for Padded Leather Duckbills is made completely out of vendor items. In a set of leves full of Aldgoat leather, expensive items from other tradeskills, and generally simply not things that can be obtained from a vendor, the Padded Leather Duckbills are far and away the cheapest option there, even if consuming more shards than the other ones.
Now that would completely depend on server prices and may fluctuate greatly. Like mentioned in all guides please use discretion. This block of text isn’t the LAW, but truly a GUIDE. As such, your input is appreciated and may provide insight for others in the future.
The recommendations are the “likely” cheapest given many factors :)
This one and a lot of guides here are just bad and need to reworked. So many instances where it rejects a leve because an item may be expensive/difficult to craft while at the same time suggesting to do the actual expensive (and tedious with minimal reward) repeatable leves. About the only thing they’re good for is a reference for which are the courier leves because that’s gonna be the best and fastest exp, but even then the information is inaccurate in places, like the 35-40 courier which actually asks for Boarskin Ringbands. A comment mentioned it but I didn’t look down to read it and I had already wasted time and leves making crakows before realizing the error.
COURIER will ALWAYS yield the highest exp.. what’s the sacrifice? Time. At level 35+, courier can take a looooooooong while due to travelling.
Level 45-50… you can buy the raptorskin atisians belt in st. Coinach find for less than 4k.
Still costly but not a bad thing to do in a bind!
Boarskin Ringbands is actually a courier leve from Gridania to Coerthas.
Just a heads up about the level 20 leves: the Hard Leather Cesti is made using ALDGOAT Leather, NOT Hard Leather as the name might imply. Aldgoat Leather has to be crafted and cannot be obtained from NPCs AFAIK. So this might affect which leve is best for this leveling stretch.
Otherwise, this guide is very useful. Thanks so much for posting it!
