DRG BiS Discussion, Notes & Options
To follow – adding BiS table for all classes first! quicknotes only:
Weapon: Brionac and Gordian Trident are very close. Brionac is a KEY PIECE that brings your SS up to the minimum, and gives massive crit. If you feel you have too much SS, and lucky enough to own the Gordian Spear, sub it out. (TBH, It’s an unlikely scenario)
Help, I need a little more SS!
Boots: this is the most legitimate place to sub a piece out of this BiS above for slightly more SS. So if you feel you need a little more – make the switch from ESO to Gordian Sabatons of Maiming. I’m in no place to speak for everyone, but this switch could very much be BiS in terms of safety/consistency of blood. However, it’s really slim and you should experiment with it! If it fits your playstyle / latency / greed level – go for it!
Commenter Aldric Belmont suggests: To try changing Spear & Wristband Gordian. These two changes sacrifice CRIT to gain a bit more DET and SS. This can also be used in conjunction with the boots swap above for the “optimal” swaps for higher SS. These swaps are easy to try, and you can determine wether it fits you and your team composition.
Any other swap for increased SS seems too big of a DPS loss.
A1S Pages: Ring > Earrings > Filler
A2S Pages: Gloves > 4x Gobcoat > Filler
A3S Pages: Head > 3x Gobtwine > Filler
A4S Pages: Gobdip > Filler (Gordian weapon is great for experimentation)
To complete all necessary gear for swaps/experiments you just need to buy: Gordian Spear > Gordian Wristband > Gordian Sabatons
3.0 Dragoon Esoterics Buy Order
- Weapon: Worth every single ESO. It’s BiS and the stats are crazy.
- Body: Most stats per eso spent, and gives huge accuracy!
- Legs: Massive stats. Careful – 0 accuracy!
- Boots: BiS, provides accuracy.
- Belt: CRIT/DET no accuracy.
- Bracelet > Necklace > Ring, accessories best bought in this order.
- Everything else is OPTIONAL and non-bis
on Belt: If you have Illuminati Gobcoat, consider pushing the belt purchase earlier.
Dragoon Crafted Gear Viability & VIT Accessories
If for some reason you want more VIT on your dragoon… the base melding strategy would be:
- (VIT IV) (VIT IV) (VIT IV) (FREE) (VIT III)
- (VIT IV) (VIT IV) (VIT IV) (FREE) (FREE)
The best candidates for accessories would be:
- Chrysolite Ring of Slaying (FREE = ACC or DET)
- Citrine Choker of Slaying (FREE = CRIT +6 or DET)
Dragoon Crafted 180 Left Melding and Notes
Adamantite Barbut of Maiming: CRIT IV x 4 – CRIT III
Amazing piece. ACC CRIT > DET are the stats, cannot complain, right?
Adamantite Pauldroncoat of Maiming: CRIT IV – ACC IV – ACC IV – CRIT III – CRIT III
Not bad… caps CRIT. Alternatively: swap ACC and DET in the above.
Adamantite Vambraces of Maiming: CRIT IV x 4 – CRIT III
Amazing part 2… Caps CRIT, DET and gives some ACC.
Griffin Leather Twinbelt of Maiming: ACC IV – CRIT IV x 3 – CRIT III
Strange melds, but gives a lot of ACC & CRIT. ALT: Swap ACC to SS.
Griffin Leather Skirt of Maiming: CRIT IV – DET IV x 2 – CRIT III x 2
ACC and CRIT capped. ALT: DET to SS.
Adamantite Sollerets of Maiming: ACC IV – ACC IV – SS IV – DET IV x 2
A bit of everything here since CRIT comes capped. ALT: ACC to DET or vice versa.
Usefulness Summary
Head: The 180 is great, this is just a luxury purchase. Skip.
Body: I dont think its worth the investment as ESO body is a high priority. Skip.
Hands: VERY POWERFUL, can be a filler that lasts all the way. Great invesment.
Belt: Powerful stats, but so is the Fabled counterpart. “Skip” due to how easy belt is to get.
Legs: surprisingly a good investment. The 210 ESO beats this but can be a worth investment.
Boots: Great if melded accuracy – can be a worth ivnestment.

Have fun and pray for the drops gearing up and getting BiS for you Dragoon! Remember each Blood you drop is -1 to your loot rolls!
So without beating A8S how does this look?
http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/UQ7V
By putting acc on the 240 relic you could remove some Acc 5’s and replace them with crit 5’s.
Another improvement would be on the belt as well.
Are there anygood sets for doing a full dps relic 120 crit/115 det/ 5 sks?
What are the thoughts on the 210 Anima? This has yet to be updated for that.
Ultimately this will be updated for 3.2 in a few days.
So, coming back to this, I’ve done some experimenting and the Gordian Spear BiS heavily outweighs the Brionac, the 87 det affecting your auto attacks, which come up as almost 20% of your damage alone, even without the crit multiplier (Which caps at around 26% at ~867 crit. Not a hard cap, but diminishing returns), I’d say the Gordian spear is the best BiS with the Thordan Halberd being a notable filler over brionac pre-Gordian Spear.
Hope it helps, my best wishes to you guys o/!.

Shouldn’t the boots be the gordian ones to meet the skill speed cap?
Wow, I must have been sleepy. I typod the weapon. Gordian -> Brionac does indeed give the requisite SS. /fixed.
Now it makes sense. Thanks for this list.
Does this set give the 590 Skill Speed required to do the rotation optimally?
In the discussion I put the SS swaps needed, HOWEVER, yes I was expecting these specific ‘590’ sets, so I may as well put one up.
Personally, I feel this build is wrong, not only the Brionac is Inferior to the Trident in stat weighs, but relying on it for sks caps does not pay off stat wise, the acuraccy is way too high considering A4S front is 640, and sacrificing almost 100 det to get a bit more crit/meet sks cap does not pay off in the overall build, because the highcap of 2.39 still gives you an optimal performance.
imho, this is what a real DRG BiS should look like: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/QZFW
Note: This page’s BiS, to compare: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/RPCQ
Aldric, upon reviewing the two links… The main difference is..
Your BiS gives: +87 DET +31 SKS
My BiS gives: +61 CRIT
The loss of crit seems a little too staggering for me. DET isn’t too hot this patch. While your list does reduce accuracy to prevent a waste of stats, i personally do not know if it will even outweigh the listed set.
Thankfully the difference is only TWO PIECES (one being the gordian spear), so it’s quite easy to experiment with. Thank you for the input!
Given the current stat weighs, those stats still make for a weighted 9.9 for crit vs 15.317 for det and sks, so it IS noticeable. I don’t have my gordian spear yet, but as soon as I do, I will buy both sets and do some field testing.
Also, I placed your suggestion above. If you ever read this please comment as I want to contact you :)
Hey, that’s pretty awesome! Thank you for that. I’m here should you like to discuss anything else with me. Thanks again :D.
What would be BiS il120 gear as a combination of WoD and Poetics gear look like? Just curious. I’m getting back into the game after a 7 month hiatus. I have the WoD chest and head gear for my DRG. All of my accessories are from SCoB. I want to save my poetics for my weapon as I only have the Liberator right now and I never upgraded my Zenith o.O Thanks!
ffxiv.ariyala.com – lock in the gear you want to keep from your current set, lower the max ilvl to 120, set up bis solver to ignore skill speed and include food buffs, and click solve.
what about the crafted Wootz gear with melds is that on the list.
Dreadwyrm Spear is not the BIS. Longinus Zeta with full Crit & Dex come out to have 57 STR, 67 VIT, 53 CRIT, and 38 DET. With an auto attack at 57.22. Only thing Dreadwyrm Spear head is a slightly lover delay. Longinus Zeta has 2.96 delay.
Zeta was not available at the point this is written, but Yes Longinus Zeta has a SMALL edge on DWS
Hi, can you explain why on Ariyala it says to use Augmented Ironworks for head and hand slots?
Probably because of some impractical thing called “stat weights”, while useful – it doesnt and CANNOT take into consideration actual combat practicality.
Yeah like ffxiv guild said, ariyala puts a little over 1/10 weight on skill speed which causes a difference. To verify this, you can set the stat weight to 0 for skill speed on ariyala’so bis silver, and it will show the same set you see here.
Sorry for spelling/capitalization. I’m on my phone.
This BiS give at the end an Accuracy of 518, is it even enough to do t13 or even t12? What’s the acc cap?
518? lemme rechek this i could have posted 1 piece of wrong gear (gimme a sec)
Ah here you go, I listed the Dreadwyrm Choker TWICE (once on ears, once on neck) Fixed to show the BiS earring!
Alrighty, makes more sense! Thank you!
